Continuing Professional Development: information for Nurses and HCSWs
Information for website for nurses/Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) attending CPD courses.
Barnet CEPN works closely with the University of Hertfordshire, Middlesex University and London Southbank University to provide CPD. Funding is limited and agreed approximately March each year. Once funding is agreed we then liaise with the universities and our Practice staff to provide relevant study days or modules which not only suit your own personal professional development but that of your GP practice. It is important for us to know as soon as possible which courses you are interested in and keep us updated with what you have done so far. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to provide us with any information about courses/ credits which you may have taken independently so we can ensure our database is as accurate as possible.
If you would like to receive our newsletters please email email@example.com to be put on our distribution list.
How to Book
To attend a CPD event run by a Higher Education Institution, book your place via our EventBrite page. These events are also advertised by email. Occasionally there will be a waiting list. For longer modules you will also need to complete an application form for the university.
Some of our workshops are run with other partners. To book a place for these events please email firstname.lastname@example.org. You will be sent a form which should be signed by your line manager, authorizing leave to attend the session. This should be returned to the above email address within a week of receiving the form.
Course flyers are regularly e-mailed to Practice Managers and also available on the Barnet CCG website and CCG newsletter.
CPD Courses offered by Higher Education Institutions
Barnet CEPN works with the University of Hertfordshire, Middlesex University, London Southbank University and Kings College London to provide workshops and modules for health professionals in Barnet.
These events are advertised on our EventBrite page.
After booking your place on the course, you will be contacted with further details of the session by the University, and may be asked to complete forms to confirm your attendance. If these forms are not completed, you may not be able to attend the module or session.
For more information about the Universities we work with, parking and facilities please visit our FAQ page.[insert link]
In the past we have covered the following topics:
Immunisation and vaccination updates
Ear care courses and updates
Managing long term conditions
For all other external courses
If you have found a course at any of the above universities or another education provider, which have not been advertised or commissioned by the CEPN, contact us and we may be able to help.
Funding may need to be obtained from another source other than the CEPN e.g. personal or from your employer.
Remember: A certificate of attendance is only piece of paper and it is your own reflective learning which will be required for your CPD portfolio.
